Utility Billing Assistant

Department: Utilities Department

Position Hours: Full-Time, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Job Duties:

Ø Oversee daily activities of department cashiers, including opening the vault and verifying cash drawers.

Ø Prepares and processes a variety of financial reports, including cash collection summaries, online payment transactions, and South Carolina government electronic payment documentation.

Ø Verifies and reconciles cashier drawers and checks, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Ø Prints and reviews transaction reports for reconciliation against drawer balances.

Ø Generates and distributes service-specific payment and cash collection reports to the Finance Director for ledger posting.

Ø Prepares and consolidates bank deposits, deposit slips, and supporting documentation for verification.

Ø Manages customer water accounts by initiating new accounts, finalizing closed accounts, completing adjustment forms, and issuing customer notifications.

Ø Monitors and tracks customer repayment agreements.

Ø Provides front-line customer service related to water accounts, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.

Ø Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ø Requires an Associate’s degree in accounting, business or related area as well as 2-3 years of general administrative, records management or office management experience.

Pay Info: Based on experience
